Write captions that help people feel informed and welcome
Explain what someone can expect from your class. Use clear details, a welcoming tone and a next step they can follow.
Begin with something true
Choose a concrete fact about the class. Perhaps the teacher breaks movements into stages, the session starts with a demonstration or a course is designed for first-timers.
Only use a detail if it applies to the class you're promoting.
Describe the experience
Give someone a picture of what they'll do. A sentence such as “We demonstrate the step, then practice it together” is useful when that is genuinely how you teach.
Let your footage support the words
Use a teaching clip alongside a message about instruction. Use group footage alongside a message about the shared class experience.
Finish with one next step
Tell the viewer where to find the class details or book. Avoid making them work out which link or session you mean.
Read it as a prospective student
Can someone tell what the class is, whether it might suit them and how to find out more? If so, the caption is doing useful work.
