Boosting a post, or StudentFlow.
Boosting a post from the Instagram or Facebook app is the easiest money you can spend on Meta, and it buys reach and likes. StudentFlow builds the post from your own footage, runs it as a proper ad from your own account, and traces each new student back to it. It has brought new students through the door.
What a boost does, and what it does not tell you
Tapping Boost on a post is quick, and it works in the sense that more people see the post. Meta charges your card, the post reaches people near you, and a day later you have a number for reach and a few likes from strangers. For a post you are proud of, that is a fair thing to buy.
What a boost does not give you is a line from the money to a student. A boost is optimised for engagement, not for someone booking a first class. It has no landing page of yours, so a person who is interested has to find your website, your timetable and your booking link on their own. And the spend is easy to lose track of: a boost placed from the app is billed to whichever ad account the app chose, often a personal one, which can be invisible in the reports you look at later. We know because it happened to a studio we work with.
The result is a feeling that ads do not work, when what did not work was measuring them.
Boosting also skips the choice of what to boost. The post you boost is the one that already did well with your followers, who are mostly current students. The person you need to reach has never seen your page and has a different worry, and a post that delighted your regulars rarely answers it.
What StudentFlow does with the same post and the same money
StudentFlow builds the post from three to five clips of your own class: the moments that carry it, cut to the music, your words and your brand burned on, the caption written. You approve it with a tap. Then it runs as a proper Meta ad from your own ad account and card, aimed at people near your studio, with a weekly spending cap you set and Meta bills you directly. StudentFlow never holds your money.
The ad points at a landing page built for that class with one low-commitment ask, and the reminder emails that keep a nervous first-timer's courage up are written for you. Every new student who came through the ad traces back to the exact post and words that brought them. It has brought new students through the door.
It is free to try with no credit card; if you like it, we'll get in touch about paying, which is A$29/month per studio, month to month. You do not have to run ads at all; plenty of studios use it for organic posting only. When you do spend, it is on the same post, from the same account, with a line from the money to the person in the room.
Questions owners ask
Can I still boost posts myself?
Yes. Your account is yours. StudentFlow's ads run alongside anything you do by hand.
Does StudentFlow hold my ad budget?
No. Ads run from your own Meta ad account and card, with a weekly cap you set. Meta bills you directly.
How much should I spend?
You set the weekly cap. Start small; the report tells you what each post brought, so you can see before you scale.
What if I only want organic posts?
Then use it for that. Ads are optional and off by default.
